Victorian Flower Art: Old is New Again

Posted on December 27th, 2009 by

More scrapbookers and crafters are searching for Victorian
flowers clip art
than ever before. That could be because vintage flowers
are so classic and don’t ever look dated and old. Vintage art encompasses a
large selection of subjects beyond just floral art, however. You can find
artwork as diverse as vintage tall sailing ships (such as the ones that
Columbus helmed when he sailed to America), theatrical posters, sepia-tone
photos, perfume and vegetable crate labels, greeting cards for every holiday,
and the list goes on and on. No matter the occasion, there’s usually some type
of vintage art that can be found to match it perfectly.

But when all else fails, I just find some pretty, colorful Victorian flower
art on the Web. They make perfect cards for birthdays, weddings, bridal
showers, christenings, baptisms, or when someone is recovering from an illness
and you want to wish them well. Unless the person you’re giving the card to is
very masculine, vintage Victorian flower art will work on cards for just about
anybody.

Getting Hooked on Free Clip Art

Posted on December 16th, 2009 by

The economy is just starting to recover and people are actually spending money again. It was tough there for a while — I was making my own wrapping paper and cards out of free clip art just to get by. But now that I have more disposable income, I still use free clip art. I discovered that there’s so much of it around, I’ve become hooked on using it.

The quality of the clip art available online has gone up quite a bit in recent years. As more and more people understand how to use complicated graphics programs, the Internet is filling up with beautiful and quite original images. Some of them are so sophisticated, you can’t believe that people give them away free. Well, they must have their reasons. I find they usually use them to promote pages with advertising or as a lure to buy paid images. And that’s a great trade-off: we get great free images and they get customers.

The Furreal Friends Kitten Calico

Posted on December 15th, 2009 by

If your little kid has been asking you for a pet as a gift this holiday season but you are unsure if your child can take on the responsibilities of a real live pet, then give a furreal friends kitten calico instead. This kitten-like toy is built to respond to your childâ??s touch as is also designed to interact with your child, giving him or her an idea of what it is like to have a real pet. The furreal friends kitten calico will softly purr as your child strokes its back and drinks milk from the bottle while making slurping sounds. After a few minutes of inactivity, the furreal friends kitten calico will fall asleep on its own, a great way to save on batteries! The furreal friends kitten calico is a great addition to the toys displayed in any childâ??s room and is also a great toy to bring along with when you and your child leave the house as it can be conveniently carried around with ease.

Sleeping in a wrong position can accentuate the curvatures of your spine and reduce your height. The lower back is especially prone to ailments like swayback if it is not taken care of. Improving sleeping posture is one of the effective ways to gain height. The best position to sleep in is flat on the back. Always sleep on a firm mattress and never use a pillow supporting your neck. Place a thick pillow or pad under your knees to alleviate pressure on the lower back as you sleep. The pelvis and back muscles get adequate rest in this position. This position will also make sure that your brain gets more blood supply. The next best position to sleep in is on your side. Bend your knees and hips in when you sleep on your side to avoid swayback. Place a pillow between your knees to better support your spine.

Consider LPN Mental Health Programs

Posted on December 9th, 2009 by

If you have qualified previously as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) you should continue to add skills and experience in order to ensure that your nursing skills remain both current and that you can demonstrate to your employer that you are a responsible and careful employee.

One popular area of additional development is in the area of mental health. Mental health issues are increasingly relevant to today’s society.  It is no longer the social stigma that it used to be to confess that you may be suffering from depression or anxiety or stress.  With this raised awareness in increased recognition from healthcare services that they have a significant role to play in the treatment of mental health and for this reason the demand for experienced and well qualified LPN’s is increasing.

It is for this reason that further education in the area of mental health is to be recommended. LPN mental health programs are reasonably straightforward to locate, a simple search on the internet should find you a number of prospective courses for you to be able to take.

Dating Tips For The Over Forty Set

Posted on December 8th, 2009 by

Sometimes it can be a little difficult and awkward to start dating again, especially if you haven’t dated for a long time, or if you have been married until recently. However, many people find that dating in their forties ends up being not only easy but also enjoyable as well. It’s tough, however, to date outside of the beer and bar scene.

One common dilemma that people re-entering the dating fields often run into is feeling like they don’t know where to go or what to do to meet new people. It can often seem like things have changed a lot since the last time they dated, and it can be a little disorienting. Meeting people through organizations, church groups or other clubs that you might already belong to is always a possibility. Getting involved with new groups and activities is also an excellent way of meeting new people, both for friendship as well as dating. Taking up a new hobby such as learning to dance, for example, can be a good way to get out and find people who you might be attracted to.

Online dating is another good option for those who are starting to date again. Because it is very easy and convenient, this is often a popular choice for busy singles, especially those who don’t get out to the types of places where they can meet new people. It can also be a good way of learning more about a person, and communicating with them via e-mail, before you actually decide to go out on a date with them.

Vitamin K

Posted on December 6th, 2009 by

Naphtoquinones or Vitamin K is the label for this group of fat-soluble compounds.  It is comprised of plant-derived Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) and Vitamin K2 (menaquinones) produced from animal and human intestinal bacteria.  Only Vitamin K1 and K2 are approved as a natural supplements because the synthetic form Vitamin K3 (menadione) is still under further research.

â?¢Vitamin K1 is given credit for the regulation of blood clotting.  The enzymes it releases in an intricate system tagged as the clotting cascade, functions to make blood clot as well as slow it down.

â?¢Vitamin K2 serves as a shield against osteoporosis when it releases osteocalcin and pads it into the bone to form more mass (bone mineralization),

â?¢In going through the Vitamin K cycle, it functions as an antioxidant that helps to fight free radicals to keep it from damaging the fats stored.

Recommended dosage is 90-120 mcg for adults 19 years old and older.  Vitamin K1 and K2 (natural forms of Vitamin K) have not exhibited toxicity, such as excessive blood clotting, in cases where the individuals have taken the vitamin more than the dosage indicated above.

Social Netoworking Games We All Play

Posted on December 5th, 2009 by

Social networking sites are still relatively new.  It began of course with the â??granddaddyâ? of them allâ??MySpace.  However, with the birth of Facebook, competition began to arise in the realm of social networking.  It was not just about a way to get in touch with friends and old acquaintances anymore.  MySpace thought that personalization was the key to being popular.  Therefore, it integrated new ways to allow users to make their page a part of themselves with creative backgrounds, coloring, and text.  Facebook thought that a different direction was necessary.  The route of special games and applications was adopted by them, and no one can deny that it is working.  Farmtown has become a total phenomenon, attracting all users of Facebook whether they are a high school student or a mom.  New games such as Rollercoaster Kingdom and Cafe World are growing in popularity as well.  Does this mean MySpace is becoming obsolete?  Not necessarily.  They have integrated Twitter into their services and have a great connection to the film and music industries.  You are just going to have to use the two sites for different things, and the choice is up to you as far as your preferences go.

A Literary Riddle And Ramble For Fun

Posted on December 5th, 2009 by

Riddles are a complex version of literature.  Riddles call forth their readers, or even listeners, to solve their mystery instead of simply telling a detailed story.  However, the effort of the author is generally overlooked.  The writing of riddles is extremely difficult because one is trying to puzzle his or her audience by describing an object indirectly.  One does not necessarily want to make the riddle something so obscure that the audience members could never decipher it, but the author does not wish to make the challenge too simple.  Writing in the Anglo-Saxon style, it can be even harder than usual because the Anglo-Saxons focused on alliteration and hidden descriptions more than the rhyme or rhythm that is prized in current riddles, particularly since those riddles more were able specific items than a time or situation.  Here is an example:

I help to begin a journey.

It can be short or long.

Even though I am a

Carved chunk of an alloy,

I can inspire a revving rumble from within.

I like to hide in veiled vicinities

When you need my magnificent mass the most.

Overall I am your companion,

And you miss me when I am gone.

Can you guess the answer?  Car keys!
